Brief Description: The State Medical Board proposes to make permanent regulation changes made by emergency regulation regarding application for license by credentials and temporary permit application requirements.
On June 23, 2022, the State Medical Board (Board) adopted, as an emergency regulation, changes in
12 AAC 40 of the Alaska Administrative Code dealing with licensure by credentials and temporary permit requirements, including the following:
- 12 AAC 40.010. Application for license by credentials, is proposed to amend and streamline the application process for physician licensure by credentials. The proposed regulation changes will allow for an expedited licensing pathway.
- 12 AAC 40.035. Temporary permit application requirements, is proposed to amend and streamline the application process for physician temporary permit requirements. The proposed regulation changes will allow for an expedited licensing pathway.
The emergency regulation took effect on July 7, 2022, and will expire November 3, 2022 unless made permanent by the Board. The Board intends to make the emergency regulation permanent.

The comments must be received not later than 4:30 p.m. on August 12, 2022. Comments received after this deadline will not be considered by the Board.

The Board may, but is not required to, answer written questions received after the 10-day cut-off date and before the end of the comment period.
