NOTICE OF CHANGES TO THE BYLAWS OF THE ALASKA JUDICIAL COUNCIL

Brief Description: The Alaska Judicial Council is accepting public comments on changes to its bylaws. Every six years, the Alaska Judicial Council undergoes a comprehensive review of its bylaws regarding its governance, procedures used to select nominees to the governor for judicial vacancies, and procedures used to evaluate judges for retention recommendations.

A copy of the changes to the bylaws is available on the Alaska Online Public Notice System, by contacting Susanne DiPietro at (907) 279-2526, by emailing a request to postmaster@ajc.state.ak.us, or by visiting the Council’s website at www.ajc.state.ak.us. 

You may submit written comments and/or questions relevant to the changes to the bylaws in the following ways:

Comments must be received no later than 4:30 p.m. on July 31. 

Questions must be received at least 10 days before the end of the public comment period. The Council will aggregate its responses to substantially similar questions and make the questions and responses available on the Alaska Online Public Notice System and on the Council’s website at www.ajc.state.ak.us.

After the public comment period ends, the Council may, without further notice, ratify the bylaw changes, decide to undertake further review, or take no action. The language of the ratified bylaws may be different from that of the bylaw changes put forth for review. Written comments and questions received are public records and subject to public inspection.
