The Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mining, Land & Water (DMLW) has received a request from BKD Holdings, LLC, 9090 E. 5th Avenue, Denver, CO 80230, owner of mining claims ADL 637882 and 637883 to convert these claims to an Upland Mining Lease, ADL 233775 under AS 38.05.205(a) and 11 AAC 86.305. The claims are located on land in which the State of Alaska holds the mineral and surface rights except that the University of Alaska owns the timber rights. Minerals may not be mined and marketed or used until a lease is issued. Unless DMLW is notified of conflicting mineral interest, a lease will be issued to the locator 30 or more days after the date of this notice.
The lease is located along the shore between Cape Yakataga and the Duktoth River, southeast of the Yakataga Airport.

Mining lessees have the exclusive right of possession and extraction of locatable minerals subject to AS 38.05.185 - 38.05.275. Leases are issued for the term it takes to mine and are renewable if necessary. The lease will require mandatory rent and production royalty requirements. Once the lease is issued, the lessee must obtain all required permits before exploration or mining can occur.
