Elliott Highway MP 18-29 Resurfacing

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is soliciting comments on the proposed Elliott Highway Resurfacing project. DOT&PF plans to resurface the Elliott Highway between MP 18 and 29. Proposed project improvements include replacing signs and guardrails, reapplication of pavement markings, drainage improvements, and bridge repairs to Washington Creek Bridge (No. 838) and Cushman Creek Bridge (No. 7212). The project involves construction within unmapped base floodplains. The encroachments are anticipated to be minor, with no net changes to the base flood elevation, will not result in significant encroachments, and no longitudinal encroachments anticipated.

We are currently working on conceptual designs, engineering, and environmental studies. Construction is currently planned for summer 2024.

DOT&PF requests information and comments on resources in the project area that may be affected including historic properties, archaeological sites, wetlands, and floodplain encroachment.

The project is being developed in accordance with the following Executive Orders (EO):
