The Department of Education and Early Development (DEED) is seeking a second round of public comment on a revised draft of its new publication Alaska School Design and Construction Standards, which will establish department criteria for cost-effective school construction to apply to school capital projects funded under AS 14.11.  This draft is a substantial update from the version released in October 2021, reflecting revisions made based on prior public comment.

All comments are welcome; however, DEED is seeking specific feedback on the following:

• Clarity regarding how the Standards will generally be applied to projects.
• The specific clarity of each items listed as Premium.
• Providing additional Best Practice/Lessons Learned and verifying those proposed.

The draft publication incorporating all proposed revisions is attached to the public notice. A version with “tracked changes” from the original public comment document is available upon request by contacting Lori.Weed@alaska.gov.
