The Fisheries Subcommittee of the Fairbanks Fish and Game Advisory Committee will meet on Monday, December 13th, 2021 at 6:30 pm. This meeting is open to the public.

Agenda items include the following:

  • Review of Board of Fish proposals and action taken in Cordova
    • Review of voting action on each proposal
    • Chuck Derrick, CDA and John Siegfried, representing FAC
    • Follow up needed
  • Discussion of non-proposal issues raised at Board meeting and preparation of a letter from the FAC, to be reviewed in January
    • Listen to full BOF meeting via link at Prince William Sound meeting
  • JTC meeting on IMEG for Yukon River and upcoming Yukon River Panel meeting in January 2022
    • Virgil Umphenour and Chris Stark
  • NPFMC December meeting and discussion of bycatch issues and 3-River Index
    • Further report in January
  • Upcoming State fisheries legislation and strategic planning
    • Need to meet with area legislators before January 15th
    • Session starts January 22nd
    • Special attention to SB44
  •  Discuss long term meeting dates and set calendar for 2022
    • Board of Fish Hatchery comments due mid-February 2022
    • Board of Fish AYK proposals due April 2022

Advisory committees are local groups that meet to discuss fishing and wildlife issues and to provide recommendations to Alaska Board of Fisheries and Alaska Board of Game. All meetings are open to the public. Advisory Committees are intended to provide a local forum on fish and wildlife issues. Their purpose includes: 1) developing regulatory proposals, 2) evaluating regulatory proposals and making recommendations to the appropriate board, 3) providing a local forum for fish and wildlife conservation and use, including matters relating to habitat, 4) advising the appropriate regional council on resources, and 5) consulting with individuals, organizations, and agencies.
