Notice of Public Scoping for the Revision of the Tanana Valley State Forest Management Plan
The Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry is revising the Tanana Valley State Forest Management Plan per AS 41.17.230 and AS 38.04.005. The Division of Forestry reviewed the 2001 Forest Management Plan and determined that a revision is necessary to reflect current conditions and uses. More information on the Tanana Valley State Forest and the 2001 Forest Management Plan is available at http://forestry.alaska.gov/stateforests.htm
The purpose of this notice is to ask the public for their ideas and suggestions in developing the Draft Forest Management Plan. The public is invited to comment on any aspect of Tanana Valley State Forest management. Scoping issues to consider include but are not limited to:
• Access
• Recommended additions to the Tanana Valley State Forest
• Updated forest inventory
• Silvicultural treatments
• Forest health & climate change
• Wildlife habitat management
• Recreation
• Research uses
Public input from this scoping period will inform the development of the Draft Tanana Valley State Forest Management Plan, which will also be available for public review and comment.
Written input must be received by the Division of Forestry no later than 5:00 p.m. Monday, January 17, 2022. The Division of Forestry extended the comment deadline from the original deadline of January 3, 2022, in response to a request from the public. Please send all submissions by mail or email to:
