Icy Straits Fish and Game Advisory Committee Meeting (Teleconference)

The Icy Straits Fish and Game Advisory Committee will be holding a public meeting via teleconference on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. Due to the COVID-19 health emergency this meeting will happen telephonically. 

The agenda will include the following items:

  • Discuss Board of Fisheries Proposals:
    • 172 - Change the pot shrimp fishery from a fall/winter season to a spring/summer season
    • 173 -Repeal rainbow trout size limits in Crystal, Glacier, and Moraine lakes Change the pot shrimp fishery from a fall/winter season to a spring/summer season
    • 174 - Change the pot shrimp season in Districts 2 and 6 from a fall/winter season to spring/summer season
    • 175 - Limit the number of shrimp pots that may be deployed on a longline to 10
    • 184 - Clarify the practice of long-lining shrimp pots in the sport fishery
    • 185 - Allow the use of artificial lights as an attractant when taking squid
    • 186 - Allow the take of squid with hook and line gear with an unlimited number of hooks
    • 187 - Allow the department to modify weekly fishing periods by emergency order during the weeks of Christmas and New Year's Day
  • Other business

All meetings are open to the public.

Advisory Committees are intended to provide a local forum on fish and wildlife issues. Their purpose includes: 1) developing regulatory proposals, 2) evaluating regulatory proposals and making recommendations to the appropriate board, 3) providing a local forum for fish and wildlife conservation and use, including matters relating to habitat, 4) advising the appropriate regional council on resources, and 5) consulting with individuals, organizations, and agencies.
