Copper Basin Advisory Committee Meeting and Elections

Copper Basin Fish & Game Advisory Committee meeting

The Copper Basin Fish & Game Advisory Committee will hold elections at the meeting Wednesday November 10, 2021, at 5:00pm,  via teleconference.

The committee will review/discuss proposals for the Board of Game, hold elections for 11 seats that are up.  Any person interested in serving is welcome to participate in the process.  

Those interested in submitting their name prior to the meeting may send an email to the Chair or Board support personnel listed at the bottom.  Names submitted for interest in the nominations will be announced at the meeting.

A person running for membership must meet the qualifications as defined in 5AAC96.040 which states, “To qualify for membership on a committee, a candidate must have knowledge of and experience with the fish and wildlife resources and their uses in the area and have a reputation within the community consistent with the responsibilities of committee membership”.

Voting shall be determined at the meeting and may be conducted either by having those present vote verbally, or text the vote to a designate phone number or email.    Votes shall be tallied, and election results announced for the record.

Upon completion of the election and results announced, new members will be seated immediately.  The committee will hold the election of officers immediately after new members are seated.

Advisory committees are local groups that meet to discuss fishing and wildlife issues and to provide recommendations to Alaska Board of Fisheries and Alaska Board of Game. All meetings are open to the public. Advisory Committees are intended to provide a local forum on fish and wildlife issues. Their purpose includes: 1) developing regulatory proposals, 2) evaluating regulatory proposals and making recommendations to the appropriate board, 3) providing a local forum for fish and wildlife conservation and use, including matters relating to habitat, 4) advising the appropriate regional council on resources, and 5) consulting with individuals, organizations, and agencies.
