The Department of Education and Early Development (DEED) is seeking public comment on an initial draft of its new publication Alaska School Design and Construction Standards, which will establish department criteria to apply to school construction projects funded under AS 14.11.  All comments are welcome; however, DEED is seeking specific feedback on the following:

• How well the standards address regionally based school design
• The level of detail in describing acceptable building systems
• The inclusion of planning factors and amenities for education spaces

The draft publication is available as an attachment to this notice. 

If you are interested in commenting on the attached draft you may comment through this public notice or e-mail your comments to Tim.Mearig@alaska.gov no later than 1:00 p.m. on November 18, 2021. E-mailed comments will receive a direct response from the department.

Additionally, DEED will hold two informational meetings via Zoom to provide an overview and discussion opportunity.
