Sealed Proposals for the UAA UC MECHANICAL UPGRADES project, as described in the General and Special Conditions contained herein, will be received by the University of Alaska Anchorage, Facilities Planning & Construction (FP&C) until October 5, 2021 at 2:00 p.m., prevailing time.

Technical and Price proposals must be submitted electronically in separate files to uaa_fpc@alaska.edu. The subject line of the email must contain the Offeror’s name, project title, and proposal due date and time.

• File 1 – containing TECHNICAL proposal
• File 2 – containing PRICE proposal

The work consists of replacement of four (4) existing RTUs (base bid) with indirect gas fired heating and self-contained direct expansion cooling systems. Install piping, electrical, miscellaneous mechanical, structural improvements, roofing upgrades, and all other work to provide a complete mechanical system as described by the project documents located at:

Due to the COVID-19, the University of Alaska has imposed a restriction limiting group gatherings. To comply with this restriction UAA Facilities Planning & Construction will be conducting a pre-proposal conference via teleconference to be followed by a restricted walkthrough of the project site. 

A pre-proposal conference will be conducted via teleconference followed by an onsite walk through. The teleconference will be held September 21, 2021 at 10:00 am, interested parties may participate by calling 1-866-832-7806 using the participant code 9120787. Immediately following the teleconference an onsite walkthrough of the project location will take place on September 21, 2021 at 10:15 am, at the south entrance under the La-Z-Boy sign of the University Center at 3901 Old Seward Highway, Anchorage, AK 99503.  IMPORTANT - due to the COVID-19 restrictions, University of Alaska Anchorage facilities have limited access, this facility will be locked and in order to ensure access to the facility for the pre-proposal walkthrough interested parties shall be present at the time stated above for the walkthrough.

All sealed Price Proposals must be accompanied by a bid bond provided by a surety authorized to do business in the State of Alaska on a form provided herein, or a cashier’s check.  Bid security must be in an amount equal to at least five percent (5%) of the maximum amount of the bid.

They may be viewed online and downloaded without charge and without deposit from www.aeplans.com.  Contact Mike Strock at AEPlans, LLC at 877-287-4905, extension 208 for information regarding access to AEPlans site and instructions for viewing and downloading construction drawings, specifications and addenda.

Offerors must register through the web site to be notified of addenda.  Proposal documents are not available from the Architect or the Owner, but they may be obtained from most plan rooms and reprographic firms for a fee.  Printed copies may be ordered from reprographic companies through the website or by contacting a reprographer directly. 

Downloaded files may be printed on the plan holder’s equipment.  Plan holders are responsible for their own reproduction costs.  Please go to www.aeplans.com to download the UAA project documents, for distribution to your members. No hard copies will be sent. Addenda to the project will be posted on the website.  The offeror is responsible for periodically checking the site.  The Contractor that is awarded the project will be responsible for printing all documents necessary for performing the work.

Prime Offerors, Sub Contractors and Suppliers obtaining proposal documents are cautioned not to obtain partial or incomplete sets of proposal documents (drawings and specifications) for the purposes of bidding.  It is the responsibility of the offeror(s) to ensure that complete sets of proposal documents as posted on AEPlans are obtained.  Neither the Owner nor the Architect shall be held responsible for errors in downloading or the printing of incomplete sets of documents by the offeror(s).
