Notice of Utility Tariff Filing
The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility (AWWU) on behalf of Anchorage Water Utility (AWU) filed TA170-122, requesting approval of new permanent rates for AWU that implement the results of a Cost of Service and Rate Design Study using a 2019 test year.
AWU is proposing to expand current metered and unmetered residential customer classes to two separate rate classes for the volume charge. In addition, AWU is proposing to add a new rate for fire protection for residential and commercial metered and unmetered customers, and bulk water sales to public utilities and vessels at the Port of Anchorage. AWU is also proposing to change the volume rate for bulk water sales customers to be the same as commercial metered customers. A selection of the current interim and refundable rates and proposed permanent rates are shown below.

AWU indicated test year 2020 operations and consumption patterns were not representative of the normal operations and consumption patterns. AWU has requested a waiver to use 2019 data instead. AWWU requests that the cost of service study and rate design study filing be suspended and consolidated with AWWU’s 2019 revenue requirement study pending before the Commission in Docket U-21-020.
