PUBLIC NOTICE
Extension of Lease ADL 24871
Chilkoot Lumber Company, Inc.
Subject to AS 38.05.070(f), the Southeast Regional Land Office issued decision for the following:
APPLICANT: Chilkoot Lumber Company, Inc.
PROJECT NAME: ADL 24871
GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: State tidelands along Lutak Inlet just north of the Haines Ferry Terminal
LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Section 9, Township 30 South, Range 59 East, Copper River Meridian,
consisting of 9.056 acres, more or less.
ACTION: The Southeast Regional Land Office issued a decision to extend lease ADL 24871 to September 23, 2022. The lease and subsequent amendments[i] authorized use of state land for a commercial timber processing business from September 24, 1965 to September 23, 2020. The DMLW found that it is in the best interest of the state to extend the lease for two years after consideration of the following:
- The submission of an application to renew the lease was timely;
- The extension is necessary to prolong the lease while the application is considered; and
- The economic return to state provided by the authorized activity.
During the extended period, Chilkoot Lumber Co., Inc. may continue land use subject to the terms and conditions as outlined by the lease.
DATES OF EXTENSION: September 24, 2020 to September 23, 2022

A person affected by this decision may appeal it in accordance with 11 AAC 02. Any appeal must be received within 20 calendar days after the date of “issuance” of this decision, as defined in 11 AAC 02.040(c) and (d) and may be mailed or delivered to the Commissioner, Department of Natural Resources, 550 W. 7th Avenue, Suite 1400, Anchorage, Alaska 99501; faxed to (907) 269-8918, or sent by e-mail to dnr.appeals@alaska.gov. If no appeal is filed by the appeal deadline, this decision becomes a final administrative order and decision of the department on the 31st calendar day after issuance. An eligible person must first appeal this decision in accordance with 11 AAC 02 before appealing this decision to the Superior Court. A copy of 11 AAC 02 may be obtained from any regional information office of the Department of Natural Resources.
