Notice of Adopted Changes to the Regulations of the Board of Pharmacy

On March 27, 2020, the Board of Pharmacy adopted, as an emergency regulation, changes in Title 12, Chapter 52 of the Alaska Administrative Code. In general, the emergency regulations are streamlining measures, to expedite the handling of prescriptions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and future disasters, and include in particular measures to expand the involvement, within their scope practice, of pharmacist interns and of pharmacy technicians who hold certain national certifications. The emergency regulations took effect on April 3, 2020 and will expire July 31, 2020 unless made permanent.

On May 28, 2020, the Board of Pharmacy adopted the emergency regulation changes to be made permanent. The permanent emergency regulation changes were reviewed and approved by the Department of Law, signed and filed by the Lieutenant Governor (or designee) on July 31, 2020. See attached copy of the filed permanent emergency regulations.

The new regulation changes will be printed in Register 235, October 2020 of the Alaska Administrative Code.
