NOTICE OF ADOPTION OF EMERGENCY REGULATION ON COURTESY LICENSES OF THE STATE MEDICAL BOARD

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The State Medical Board adopted emergency regulations regarding courtesy licenses.

On April 9, 2020, the State Medical Board adopted, as emergency regulations, changes in 12 AAC 40
of the Alaska Administrative Code dealing with notarized signatures, courtesy licenses, and document stale dates, including the following:

1. 12 AAC 40.010. Application for license by credentials, is proposed to be changed as follows:
removal of the requirement of a notarized application for license by credentials.

2. 12 AAC 40.015. Application for license by examination, is proposed to be changed as follows: removal of the requirement of a notarized application for a license by examination.

3. 12 AAC 40.035. Temporary permit application requirements, is proposed to be changed a follows: removal of the requirement of a notarized application for a temporary permit.

4. 12 AAC 40.045. Courtesy license, is proposed to be changed to allow for an emergency courtesy license for physicians, osteopaths, physician assistants, and mobile intensive care paramedics, specific
to the public health disaster emergency issued by the governor under AS 26.23.020, March 11, 2020.

5. 12 AAC 40.963. Application form and verifications for licensure, is proposed to be changed by amending the date of a stale document.

The emergency regulation took effect April 21, 2020, and will expire August 18, 2020. The State
Medical Board does not intend to make the emergency regulations permanent.
