On November 7, 2019, the State Medical Board adopted regulation changes in Title 12, Chapter 40 of the Alaska Administrative Code. The regulations update requirements for foreign medical graduates, and to implement amendments to AS 08.64 enacted under secs. 1 – 4, ch. 18, SLA 2019 (SB 44), update regulations to provide procedures and requirements under which a physician assistant may prescribe drugs without a physical examination, i.e., through telehealth.
The regulation changes were reviewed and approved by the Department of Law, signed and filed by the Lieutenant Governor on February 24, 2020, and will go into effect on March 25, 2020. See attached copy of the filed version of the regulations.
The new regulation changes will be printed in Register 233, April 2020 of the Alaska Administrative Code.
