Notice of Application for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity

The REGULATORY COMMISSION OF ALASKA (Commission) gives notice that on October 10, 2019, Granite Telecommunications, LLC (Granite), filed applications for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (Certificate) to provide competitive local exchange service in competitive markets in Alaska. Docket No. U-19-089 was opened to address this matter. Granite also filed an application for a certificate to provide facilities-based intrastate interexchange service in Alaska. Docket No. U-19-090 was opened to address this matter. In both applications, Granite stated its intent to provide telecommunication service through government service contracts exclusively; Granite does not intend to provide general residential service.

In conjunction with its applications, Granite has filed a petition for confidential treatment of the following information filed with the application: Granite’s balance sheet and income statement. Interested persons may file a response to the petition for confidential treatment with the Commission by 5:00 pm., November 18, 2019.

The Commission has not assessed the completeness of the application. The Commission may determine whether the application is complete after the close of the public comment period.
