Kotzebue Sound Fish & Game Advisory Committee

The Kotzebue Sound Fish & Game Advisory Committee will hold a meeting to provide comments on fish & game proposals and to nominate and elect AC members on Thursday, October 24, 2019 beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Selawik and Wildlife Refuge Conference room, 160 2nd Avenue, Kotzebue. The meeting is open to the public.
The AC will have the opportunity to review hunting and fishing proposals and provide comments on Game Management Unit 23:
1) Reauthorize resident brown bear tag fee exemptions;
2) Open year-round caribou bull harvest;
3) Reduce the bag limit for caribou;
4) Extend the cow caribou season;
5) Restrict the use of snow-machines for taking caribou; and
6) Remove the restriction on caribou calf harvest.
The State fish and game advisory committees are established as a local forum to provide recommendations on the management of fish and wildlife resources including their habitat. The Kotzebue Sound AC is a 10-member committee. Nominations will be accepted from the floor from all those present at the meeting and ballots will be cast for 3 seats.
You are encouraged to request a Draft Agenda that lists all the Proposals the AC may consider.
