On November 1, 2018, the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors adopted regulation changes in Title 12, Chapter 36 of the Alaska Administrative Code. Particularly regarding eligibility for architect examination and registration and architect education requirements, the regulations update references to National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) standards to align language with current terminology and remove obsolete seismic requirements; and also update requirements for architect and engineer registration by comity, adding structural engineering registration by comity in addition to other requirements for engineer registration by comity.
The regulation changes were reviewed and approved by the Department of Law, signed and filed by the Lieutenant Governor on February 26, 2019, and will go into effect on March 28, 2019. See attached copy of the filed version of the regulations.
The new regulation changes will be printed in Register 229, April 2019 of the Alaska Administrative Code.
