DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION
SOLID WASTE TREATMENT PERMIT
The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) has determined that the permit application for the operation of two Grind and Inject (G&I) facilities and accompanying temporary storage cells, described below, is complete. ADEC is proposing to issue a comprehensive solid waste permit to include both facilities.

LOCATION: | Unit 1 operates at pads in the Greater Mooses Tooth Unit and Colville River Unit on the North Slope of Alaska. Unit 2 will be located at CD1 in the Colville River Unit, within Section 2, Township 11 North, Range 4 East, Umiat Meridian. |
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: | This comprehensive permit will include the existing mobile G&I facility, a new stationary G&I facility, and associated temporary storage cells. These facilities will be operated for the storage and treatment of drilling waste and non-hazardous petroleum contaminated soil prior to injection into a permitted Underground Injection Control (UIC) well. |
OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC PARTICIPATION:
ADEC is seeking comment regarding the proposed permit only. Notice is given that any person interested may present written comments relevant to the proposed permit to ADEC. Written comments will be included in the record if received before 5:00 p.m. on March 28, 2019.
