Please be advised that the Northern Norton Sound Fish and Game Advisory Committee (AC) public meeting in Nome has been rescheduled to Wednesday, February 13, 2019 to begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Northwest Campus Grand Hall.
The Board of Game long-term meeting cycle allows the Board to consider changes to regulations on a region-based schedule that cycle every three years. For 2019/2020, the Board of Game will meet in the Arctic to consider regulation changes within the region. It will accept wildlife proposals until May 1, 2019.
The Northern Norton Sound AC Agenda items include a review of Wildlife Management topics pertinent to GMU 22. Moose, muskox and brown bear harvest and biological information will be discussed in preparation for the Arctic/Western Region Board of Game meeting to be held in Nome January 17-20, 2020. A review of current and upcoming moose and muskox research projects will also be provided. A discussion of recent Board of Fisheries decision regarding the salmon fishery and the upcoming commercial crab season will also be discussed.
Advisory committees are local groups that meet to discuss fish and wildlife issues and to provide recommendations to the Alaska Board of Game and the Alaska Board of Fisheries on regulations that may affect them. All meetings are open to the public. As the local forum, committees develop and/or evaluate regulatory proposals and provide recommendations to the appropriate board, discuss conservation and use, including matters relating to habitat, advising the appropriate regional councils on resources and consulting with individuals, organization, and agencies.
If you are a person with a disability who requires special accommodations in order to participate in any of the public meetings, please contact Hazel Smith at 907-442-1717 or 907-412-3080 no later than 48 hours prior to the meeting so any necessary arrangements may be made.
