On September 24, 2018, the Board of Certified Real Estate Appraisers adopted regulation changes in Title 12, Chapter 70 of the Alaska Administrative Code. The regulations concern certification and licensing requirements, including requirements for transition of trainees as certified residential or certified general real estate appraisers, transition of certified residential real estate appraisers as certified general real estate appraisers, and continuing education requirements. In particular, many of the regulations are adopted in accordance with AS 08.87.020(3), directing the adoption of regulations necessary to comply with 12 U.S.C. 3331 – 3351 (Title XI, Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery, and Enforcement Act of 1989), as amended by 12 U.S.C. 5301 – 5641 (Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act).The regulation changes were reviewed and approved by the Department of Law, signed and filed by the Lieutenant Governor on November 28, 2018, and will go into effect on December 28, 2018. The new regulation changes will be printed in Register 228, January 2019 of the Alaska Administrative Code.
