On February 22, 2018, the Board of Barbers and Hairdressers adopted regulation changes in Title 12, Chapter 09 of the Alaska Administrative Code. The regulations concern changes needed to regulations regarding the practice of manicuring due to the changes made by ch. 12, SLA 2017. In short, those legislative changes rolled back legislative changes made by ch. 27, SLA 2015 that created a separate nail technician license. The regulations are amended to remove references to “nail technician” and restore references to “advanced manicurist” and “manicurist.”
The regulation changes were reviewed and approved by the Department of Law, signed and filed by the Lieutenant Governor on May 22, 2018, and will go into effect on June 21, 2018. See attached copy of the filed version of the regulations.
The new regulation changes will be printed in Register 226, July 2018 of the Alaska Administrative Code.
