Mid-Lower Yukon Fish and Game Advisory Committee

The Mid-Lower Yukon Fish and Game Advisory Committee will be holding a public meeting in St. Mary's in the Community Hall at 1:00pm November 16 & 17, 2016.  Please call 1-800-504-8071 code 5432709 to participate.

Agenda items will include the following items

  • Western Region, Game Management Unit 18,  BOG Proposals and AC comments:

    • Proposal 17: 5AAC 92.990 (26) Change the definition of “edible meat” for game birds. (p. 38)

    • Proposal 18: 5AAC 92.015 Reauthorize resident tag fee exemptions for brown bear in Units 18, 22, 23 and 26A. (p.38)

    • Proposal 21: 5AAC 85.045 Open a winter hunting season for moose in Unit 18. (p. 43)

    • Proposal 22: 5AAC 85.045 Open a winter nonresident hunting season for moose in Unit 18 remainder. (p.43)

    • Proposal 23: 5AAC 85.045 (16) Reauthorize the antlerless moose hunting season in the Remainder of Unit 18. (p. 44)

    • Proposal 24: 5AAC 92.044 Allow the harvest of brown bear at bear bait stations in Unit 18. (p. 45)

    • Proposal 25 5AAC 85.025 Open a nonresident draw hunt for caribou in Units 18 and 19. (p.45)

Advisory committees are local groups that meet to discuss fishing and wildlife issues and to provide recommendations to Alaska Board of Fisheries and Alaska Board of Game. All meetings are open to the public. Advisory Committees are intended to provide a local forum on fish and wildlife issues. Their purpose includes: 1) developing regulatory proposals, 2) evaluating regulatory proposals and making recommendations to the appropriate board, 3) providing a local forum for fish and wildlife conservation and use, including matters relating to habitat, 4) advising the appropriate regional council on resources, and 5) consulting with individuals, organizations, and agencies.
