Northern Norton Sound Fish and Game Advisory Committee Meeting and Elections

The Northern Norton Sound Fish and Game Advisory Committee will be holding a public meeting in Nome in the Pioneer Building on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 3:00 pm.

Agenda items will include the following items;

Elections
Memorandum of Understanding

Arctic/Western Board of Game Proposals:

Proposal 26: Lengthen the hunting season for moose in Unit 22A
Proposal 27: Lengthen the nonresident hunting season for moose in Unit 22A
Proposal 28: Eliminate the nonresident moose hunt in Units 22E and 22D remainder
Proposal 29: Open a hunting season for caribou in Unit 22A by emergency order
Proposal 30: Lengthen the hunting season for brown bear in Unit 22C as follows
Proposal 31: Increase the bag limit for brown bear in Unit 22B
Proposal 32: Lengthen the hunting season for brown bear in Unit 22A

Board of Fisheries Proposals
Proposal 244: Align sport crab fishery regulations and repeal methods and means and general provisions for shellfish for the North Slope, Kuskokwim-Goodnews and Yukon areas
Proposal 245: Extend the closure line north for the Norton Sound Section commercial king crab fishery from 64* 15' N. latitude

Advisory committees are local groups that meet to discuss fishing and wildlife issues and to provide recommendations to Alaska Board of Fisheries and Alaska Board of Game. All meetings are open to the public. Advisory Committees are intended to provide a local forum on fish and wildlife issues. Their purpose includes: 1) developing regulatory proposals, 2) evaluating regulatory proposals and making recommendations to the appropriate board, 3) providing a local forum for fish and wildlife conservation and use, including matters relating to habitat, 4) advising the appropriate regional council on resources, and 5) consulting with individuals, organizations, and agencies.
