Lower Kuskokwim Fish and Game Advisory Committee Meeting and Elections

The Lower Kuskokwim Fish and Game Advisory Committee will be holding a public meeting in Bethel in the Long House on Wednesday, November, 11-12, 2015 at TBA .  Please call 1-800-504-8071 code 442-1717 to participate.

Agenda items will include the following items:

    1. Undesignated Seats
    2. Elect Representative to Attend AYK meeting in January
    3. Elect Representative to attend Statewide Board of Game Meeting in March
    Fisheries Topics
Comment on Board of Fisheries Proposals:
    1. Proposal 92: Modify the Kuskokwim River Salmon Management Plan to manage the king salmon subsistence fishery based on the Bethel Test Fishery
    2. Proposal 93: Modify the Kuskokwim River Salmon Management Plan to establish an inriver run goal of king salmon above the Bethel Test Fishery
    3. Proposal 94: Establish an inriver goal for the Kuskokwim River Salmon Management Plan
    4. Proposal 95: Include targeted permits with the list of those that the Failure To Report penalty can be applied to
    5. Proposal 96: Establish a point system for drawing hunts
    6. Proposal 97: Establish a point system for drawing hunts
    7. Proposal 98: Establish a point system for drawing hunts with an allocation for nonresident and nonresident permits
    8. Proposal 99: To apply for a nonresident permit, a registered guide must provide an assigned verification code
    9. Proposal 100: Modify the provision of surplus permits
    10. Proposal 101: Limit the amount of drawing permits awarded to nonresidents to a maximum of ten percent
    11. Proposal 102-Allows salmon take with gillnet mesh size 5 and 3/4 inch or less (Page 85)
    12. Proposal 103-Add District 5 to the District 4 salmon management plan (Page 86)

Advisory committees are local groups that meet to discuss fishing and wildlife issues and to provide recommendations to Alaska Board of Fisheries and Alaska Board of Game. All meetings are open to the public. Advisory Committees are intended to provide a local forum on fish and wildlife issues. Their purpose includes: 1) developing regulatory proposals, 2) evaluating regulatory proposals and making recommendations to the appropriate board, 3) providing a local forum for fish and wildlife conservation and use, including matters relating to habitat, 4) advising the appropriate regional council on resources, and 5) consulting with individuals, organizations, and agencies.
