Southern Norton Sound Fish and Game Advisory Committee Meeting and Elections

The Southern Norton Sound Fish and Game Advisory Committee will be holding a public meeting in Unalakleet in the Native Village of Unalakleet on Wednesday, October 28th, 2015 at 11:45 AM.  You can participate in this meeting by calling 1-800-504-8071, code 442-1717.

    1. Crab Pot Limit ACR
    2. Proposal 127: Expand commercial fishing area of Yukon District 1 (pg 106)
    3. Prop 128: Extend commercial fishing three miles offshore and north to Point Romanoff in District 1 of the Yukon Area (pg 107)
    4. Prop 129: In times of conservation, return specific species immediately to the water unharmed while beach seining (pg 108)
    5. Prop 130: Allow restriction of gillnet mesh size during times of conservation for chum and king salmon (pg 109)
    6. Prop 131: Increase subsistence fishing time with gillnets and beach seines in Sub District 1 (pg 110)
    7. Prop 132: Add cast net as legal subsistence gear and allow both dip and cast nets to be used in all subsistence fisheries in Norton Sound (pg 110)
    8. Prop 133: Allow beach seines for commercial harvest of chum and pink salmon in Sub-districts 5 &6 during king salmon conservation (pg 111)

Advisory committees are local groups that meet to discuss fishing and wildlife issues and to provide recommendations to Alaska Board of Fisheries and Alaska Board of Game. All meetings are open to the public. Advisory Committees are intended to provide a local forum on fish and wildlife issues. Their purpose includes: 1) developing regulatory proposals, 2) evaluating regulatory proposals and making recommendations to the appropriate board, 3) providing a local forum for fish and wildlife conservation and use, including matters relating to habitat, 4) advising the appropriate regional council on resources, and 5) consulting with individuals, organizations, and agencies.
