Notice of Proposal to issue a Solid Waste Disposal Permit to Northwest Gold LLC for an Inert Waste Monofill, Mile 351.5 Parks Highway near Ester, Alaska

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) proposesto issue Solid Waste Disposal Permit No. SWZA070, to Northwest Gold LLC, tooperate an Inert Waste Monofill.

APPLICANT INFORMATION:

Location:  The driveway entrance to the proposed site is located near mile marker 351.5 on the Parks Highway near Ester, Alaska.

Landowner: Northwest Gold LLC

Landfill Operator: Northwest Gold LLC

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Northwest Gold LLC submitted a permit application for an inert waste monofill near Ester, Alaska. The monofill expects to receive up to 10,000 tons per year of inert waste including construction and demolition debris and road construction debris.  No non-regulated asbestos-containing material (non-RACM) or regulated asbestos-containing material (RACM) will be accepted for disposal at the monofill.  The monofill will be open to approved contractors only and not the general public.  The approximately 1 acre site will include a solidwaste disposal cell, a dump pad, berms, and drainage controls.

OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC PARTICIPATION:

ADEC is seeking comment regarding the proposed project only.  Notice is given that any person interested may present written comments relevant to the proposed Permit to ADEC.  Written comments will be included in the record if received before 5:00 p.m. on July 13, 2015    Submit written comments regarding the project to Neil Lehner, ADEC Division ofEnvironmental Health, Solid Waste Program, 610 University Avenue, Fairbanks, Alaska 99709.  Comments may also be sent by fax to (907) 451-2188 or by email to neil.lehner@alaska.gov.
