Sealed bids for furnishing all labor, materials, equipment and performing all work on Project No. AIP 3-02-0200/64005/62112/64110/64279, Hughes Airport Gravel Surface Repairs, described herein, will be received until 2:00 p.m. prevailing time, June 30, 2015, in the Office of the Contracts Engineer, Engineering Services Building, Room 3, 2301 Peger Road, Fairbanks, Alaska.

This project will upgrade the existing 3,400’ x 100’ runway gravel surface. Existing surface will be repaired to correct ruts or any soft spots. Two (2) inches of new Aggregate Surface Course, Grading E-1 (approximately 3,170 cubic yards) will be placed and compacted for the whole length of the runway, safety area, apron and two taxiways. Final surface will be graded to ensure an efficient drainage. Existing runway and taxiway light cans would not be buried. Additionally, vegetation hydro axe and hand clearing for vegetation will be performed on both town and river sides of the runway, estimated 54 acres.

Material site on the Hillside Road (a.k.a. Townsite rock outcropping) will be made available for contractors to use. Material Sales Agreement was established with the owner of subsurface rights, Doyon Limited Corp. Work schedule will be coordinated with the City of Hughes.

Engineer's Estimate is between $500,000 and $1,000,000.

The project completion date is October 31, 2015.
