The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) has made a preliminary decision to approve PacRim Coal, LP’s (PacRim’s) application for Air Quality Control Minor Permit AQ0957MSS03 for the Chuitna Coal Project.

Location: Latitude: 61.17o N; Longitude: 151.36o W
Activity: PacRim Coal, LP’s application is classified under 18 AAC 50.502(c)(1) to establish a new stationary source and 18 AAC 50.502(b)(5) for a coal preparation plant.
Emissions: PTE for this source is 10.7 tpy NOx, 9.0 tpy CO, 8.5 tpy PM-2.5, 41.3 tpy PM-10, 0.1 tpy SO2, and 0.6 tpy VOC.
ADEC Preliminary Review: Based on review of the application, ADEC drafted a preliminary permit decision for this project under AS 46.14 and 18 AAC 50.

ADEC will issue a final decision to issue or deny the permit after the close of the public comment period.
