NOTICE OF PROPOSED CHANGES IN THE REGULATIONS OF THE STATE BOARD OF REGISTRATION FOR ARCHITECTS, ENGINEERS, AND LAND SURVEYORS
Brief Description: The State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors proposes to update various regulations addressing reexamination, elimination of the requirements for board approval for the fundamentals of engineering and land surveying examinations, education and experience requirements for examinations, board bylaws, and definitions.
The State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors (Board) proposes to adopt regulation changes in Title 12, Chapter 36 of the Alaska Administrative Code, dealing with reexamination, eligibility for fundamentals of engineering and land surveying examinations, education and work experience requirements for eligibility to sit for the examinations required for engineers and land surveyors, board bylaws, and definitions, including the following:
- 12 AAC 36.040, Simplified application for reexamination, is proposed to be changed to alter the requirements for reexamination.
- 12 AAC 36.062, Eligibility for fundamentals of engineering examination, is proposed to be changed to eliminate the requirements for board approval for the fundamentals of engineering examination and to allow applicants to apply directly to NCEES for the examination.
- 12 AAC 36.063, Engineering education and work experience requirements, is proposed to be changed to alter the education and experience requirements in order to be eligible to sit for the professional engineering examination.
- 12 AAC 36.064, Eligibility for fundamentals of land surveying examination, is proposed to be changed to eliminate the requirements for board approval for the fundamentals of land surveying examination and to allow applicants to apply directly to NCEES for the examination.
- 12 AAC 36.065, Eligibility for professional land surveyor examination, is proposed to be changed to alter the education and experience requirements in order to be eligible to sit for the professional land surveyor examination.
- 12 AAC 36.920, Board bylaws, is proposed to be changed to alter the board bylaws pamphlet that the board adopts by reference.
- 12 AAC 36.990, Definitions, is proposed to be changed to further define terms used in AS 08.48 and 12 AAC 36.

The comments must be received no later than 4:30 p.m. on April 20, 2015.

The Board may, but is not required to, answer written questions received after the 10-day cut-off date and before the end of the comment period.
