TheAlaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) has determined that the permit application, submitted by the Nelson Lagoon Tribal Council for operationof a landfill in Nelson Lagoon, Alaska, is complete.  ADEC proposes to issue Solid Waste Disposal Permit No. SW3A131-19 to operate the existing Class III Municipal Solid Waste Landfill.

APPLICANT INFORMATION:

Landowner: Nelson Lagoon Native Corporation

Landfill Operator: Nelson Lagoon Tribal Council 

Location:  The Nelson Lagoon Landfill is located a less than a mile west of the community along Town Road within Section 26 of Township 48 South, Range 75 West, Seward Meridian.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The landfill will serve the 55 residents of Nelson Lagoon.  It is estimated that the community will produce 60 tons of solid waste per year. The 2.5 acre site includes a burn unit for waste volume reduction, solid waste disposal cells, and a salvage area.
