Notice of completed application review with proposal to issue a Solid Waste Disposal Permit to operate the existing Class III Municipal Solid Waste Landfill for the City of Atka

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC)has completed a permit application review for a Class III Municipal Solid WasteLandfill for the City of Atka and has determined the application meets therequirements to issue a Solid Waste Disposal Permit.  ADEC proposes to issue Solid Waste DisposalPermit No. SW3A135-19, to the City of Atka, to operate the existing Class IIIMunicipal Solid Waste Landfill.

 

APPLICANTINFORMATION: Landowner and Operator: City of Atka

 

LOCATION:  The Atka Landfill is located within Section3, Township 92 South, Range 176 West, Seward Meridian, northeast of the Atka airport,and is accessible by road.

 

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Thelandfill will serve the approximately 67 residents of Atka.  It is estimated that the community willproduce 102 tons of solid waste per year. The 1.05 acre site includes a solidwaste disposal cell and a metals area.
