The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) proposes
to issue Solid Waste Disposal Permit No. SW3A121-19, to the Chignik Lake
Village Council, to operate an existing Class III Municipal Solid Waste
Landfill.
APPLICANT
INFORMATION: Landowner: Alaska Department of Commerce, Community, &
Economic Development -Municipal Land Trustee Program (Leased to Chignik Lake
Village Council)
Landfill Operator: Chignik Lake Village Council
LOCATION: The Chignik Lake Landfill is accessible by
road located east of the community, east of the Chignik Lake airport, and south
of the Chignik River within Section 25, Township 45 South, Range 61 West, Seward
Meridian. The community of Chignik Lake is located in the Aleutian Islands
Recording District in southwest Alaska.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The
landfill will serve the approximately 76 residents of Chignik Lake. It is estimated that the community will
produce 70 tons of solid waste per year. The 1.2 acre site includes a burn unit
for waste volume reduction, a solid waste disposal cell, and a salvage area.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION: ADEC is seeking comment regarding the proposed
project only. Notice is given that any
