Notice of Public Scoping Meetings
Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) for the Alaska Stand Alone Pipeline (ASAP) Project
The Alaska Gasline Development Corporation (AGDC) announces that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) intends to prepare a draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) on the Corporation's proposed in-state natural gas transportation project, known as the Alaska Stand Alone Pipeline (ASAP). The SEIS will focus on project design changes that were proposed after the Final Environmental Impact Statement was published in October 2012. In support of the SEIS process, a revised ASAP Plan of Development has been published and is available on the project website at: http://asapgas.agdc.us/documents.html.
Public scoping is the initial phase of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process and provides an opportunity to engage the public, to solicit input from interested and affected stakeholders, and to identify the range of issues to be addressed in the SEIS. The Corps welcomes public comments regarding potential impacts associated with the project's construction and operation, and to discuss alternatives.
The 75-day scoping period runs through October 14th. Fourteen public scoping meetings have been scheduled as outlined in the table below. Most meetings will occur from 5:30-8:30 pm, except where noted. Interested parties are encouraged to monitor the Corps' SEIS website for possible changes to meeting dates, times and locations www.asapeis.com.
The public is encouraged to participate in person or via teleconference at (877) 336-1839, Access Code 7097158, Security Code: 1111.
Public comments can be made to the Corp orally at the meeting or submitted in writing via email to: asapeiscomments@usace.army.mil or via mail to: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, CEPOA-RD, P.O. Box 6898, JBER, AK 99506-0898. Please include with your written comments: (1) Name, address, and affiliation (if any); and (2) Background support documents if necessary.
