The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) proposes
to issue Solid Waste Disposal Permit No. SW3A116-19, to the Arctic Village
Council, to operate a Class III Community Municipal Solid Waste Landfill.

Fort Yukon and 290 miles north of Fairbanks. The legal description of the
landfill is: Section 35, Township 15 South, Range 28 East, Umiat Meridian.

Project Description:
This public notice is for the construction of a new landfill in Arctic Village,
Alaska. The location of the new landfill is 2 miles southwest of Arctic Village;
the new landfill will be located a short distance from the existing landfill.
The community desires to close their current landfill in conjunction with a
local land farming project and construct a new landfill that will be in
regulatory compliance and can be maintained as a sanitary landfill. The
landfill will serve the 152 residents of Arctic Village. It is estimated that the community produces 194
tons of solid waste per year. The 1.6 acre site includes a gravel pad, two solid
waste disposal cells, an enhanced burn unit, a salvage area for used appliances,
a reuse and recycling area, and a stockpile of cover materials within a fenced area.
