PUBLIC NOTICE
STATE OF ALASKA – DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION
CITY OF EEK, CLASS III MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE PERMIT 

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) proposes to issue Solid Waste Disposal Permit No. SW3A105-19, to the City of Eek, to operate an existing Class III Municipal Solid Waste Landfill.

APPLICANT INFORMATION:

LOCATION: 
The New Eek Landfill is located east of the community and the old Eek airport and south of the Eek River.  The landfill is accessible by road and is located within Section 32, Township 2 North, Range 73 West, Seward Meridian.  Eek lies on the south bank of the Eek River, 12 miles east of the mouth of the Kuskokwim River on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta in southwest Alaska.  It is 35 air miles south of Bethel and 420 miles west of Anchorage.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The landfill will serve the 356 residents of Eek.  It is estimated that the community will produce 350 tons of solid waste per year. The 7.5 acre site will include a burn unit for waste volume reduction, solid waste disposal cells, and a salvage area.

OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC PARTICIPATION:
